Q&A with Darion Hunt of Headquarters City Centre (Editorial Stylist of the Year – Hot Shot – New Talent) | The Industry Awards 2020
How does it feel to have won?
It feels surreal, I can't describe the feelings I have about this accomplishment. I'm humbled and grateful for the opportunity and the experience.
What was the inspiration behind your design?
It was a combination of pure imagination and my personal creative flair, I wanted something that reflects me but also shows that there is no limit to imagination.
Would you recommend entering The Industry Awards to other stylists?
I 100% recommend entering because it not only gets your name out there but also gives you an experience you can’t get in the day-to-day running of a salon. There's no better feeling than seeing your piece at the end of all your hard work, and why not show everyone else what you're passionate about?
Who has been the biggest influence in your career so far?
One of my influences has to be Vicki Taylor Blair, for pushing me to enter and believing I could do what I was envisioning. My managers Tina Monroe and Hannah McDoull took me under their wings and have helped guide me towards my success in my work. Lastly, Chris Appleton, I look up and aspire to be someone who is recognized and recommended amongst the stars.
